My dear Niklaus,
You have always enjoyed your little games. Imagine my surprise when I found your letter among my shirts. I agree with your sentiments – had I not purchased that pair of Rookwood vases I may very well have not found your mischievous lettre d'amour until next month. You know me more than I know myself in this way. How I feel so lucky to finally express my love and affection for you. Words cannot adequately express how it feels to be known so fully by someone and loved all the same.
It is so good of you to love me so. I don’t think I ever felt so happy in my life as I have felt lately. And I'm sure I love you more than any other friend I have in the world. I shall be glad to see your dear face again as I have such longings to kiss those sweet lips of yours. Such longings that implore me to do what is right for my boy and my own heart. I have decided to join you in Cincinnati. Perhaps we may find a house on Mount Lookout – a fitting home for a pair of Uranians. You may continue your research and I will find a means to transfer my bookselling business. I will support you much in the same way you have supported me in finding myself in the darkness.
I have already made arrangements for travel and storage until I establish a proper store again. I will once again have you in my arms by months’ end. I promise to never let my embrace slip or falter again. You shall be mine and I shall be yours. I will keep you anchored for as long as you wish to remain docked, and will journey with you into the great unknown when you are ready.
Ever your affectionate anchor,
Cyrus
My dear Niklaus,
Where are you? I received your letter in time and was able to make arrangements for your sudden arrival while canceling my own. It is now Thursday and you have not yet arrived. Should I be concerned? Did you receive my letter and now are awaiting my arrival? Please, write back with haste. I do not know what I would do without you.
Your anchor,
Cyrus
