Preserving Spiritualist Histories and Futures

Preserving Spiritualist Histories and Futures

The Luscinia Historical Society is a volunteer-run series of archives pertaining to spiritualist and esoteric ephemera from the 19th century and beyond. Our collection is primarily focused on seldom documented first-hand accounts of spiritualist activities.

Our Mission

The American Spiritualist Movement of the 1800s is heavily associated with progressive social movements, including the Suffragettes and Abolitionists. Our research currently implies lesser-documented movements continue to surround contemporary progressive movements, including LGBTQ+ Rights, Pro-Choice, and Civil Rights. In addition to preserving ephemera such as letters and diaries, we also strive to bring attention to spiritualist and esoteric activities beyond the late 19th and early 20th centuries and how they may be related to other progressive movements.
